About PDXOSGeo

The Portland chapter of OSGeo is focused on learning and teaching about open data, maps, and spatial applications. We like good conversations about solving problems with open source tools.

History

PDXOSGeo formed in 2006 as the OSGeo local chapter for Portland and the surrounding area. The group is free and open to anyone curious about open source software, GIS, and shared learning, from first meetups to long-time contributors.

The pdxosgeo GitHub organization dates to June 2012, the same week this website was first published. Code, conference leftovers, and mapping experiments from the last decade and a half still live there.

Members

These are just a few of the public members in the GitHub org. The chapter is much larger than this list. But join us at a meeting or online to get involved.

    Portland OSM building import

pdxbldgimport documents the process for bringing Portland-area building footprints and addresses into OpenStreetMap. It is still the most-starred project in the GitHub org.

Monthly meetups & Map of the Month

We usually meet on the fourth Wednesday for talks, demos, and show and tell. Map of the Month highlights a map that caught the group’s eye. Recaps live in the meetings archive.
